The Bikram Yoga Guelph studio was designed and built by Tom Dowd who is the studio owner and a certified Bikram Instructor. Upon completion early in 2009, the studio received the Gordon Couling Award from The Architectural Conservancy of Ontario in recognition of an exemplary restoration project in the County of Wellington. Bikram Yoga Guelph was also a site in Doors Open 2009.
This serene space is a hot yoga studio with rooftop patio. The rough limestone walls and original maple floor joists are enhanced with subtle lighting and natural elements like river stones. Rough Muskoka hemlock pillars form supporting posts in the change rooms. At the back, the original ashlar limestone walls with arched window openings have been revealed.
